Post‑treatment follow‑up inspections are conducted to confirm cessation of activity and verify that the colony has been effectively neutralised prior to installing any termite management system.

I have found termites in my house. What should I do first?

Do not disturb them. Do not break open the mud tubes, spray them with a retail product, or move the infested timber, because that can scatter the colony deeper into the property and make it harder to treat. Can I treat termites myself with a product from the hardware store?

We strongly advise against DIY termite spraying. Using the wrong chemicals can lock termites inside the structure, trapping the colony and allowing it to continue feeding unnoticed. Incorrect products or application often push termites deeper into the building and make proper treatment more difficult. The safest approach is to have a qualified technician assess the activity and carry out a professional treatment that targets the colony at the source.

Does Northern Rock treat termites in the yard and garden, or only in the house?

Both. Northern Rock treats termites that are already in the building, and termites that are active out in the grounds, in trees, stumps, fences, retaining walls or garden timbers, before they reach the house. Treating them in the yard early is one of the best ways to protect the building.
