What is Our Commitment to You?

Our Commitment to you. Termite Treatment Guarantee (Free Service Period). Free service periods are issued on a 12-month basis from the date of completion of the chemical termite management system and extendable for an additional 12 months at the time of an annual termite inspection (cost is incurred for annual termite inspection) being carried out. The free service period will remain current when the annual termite inspection has been arranged with us by you and carried out within 12 months of the last annual termite inspection and the chemical reapplications to the installed termite management system have been carried out at the recommended intervals as stated by Northern Rock Pest Control on your certificate of treatment/installation. If active termites are found after the completion of a termite management system or within a current free service period and termites have been proven to have gained entry via bridging or breaching of the installed termite management system, then we will, free of charge, carry out a visual termite inspection to determine the termite entry point(s) and carry out any remedial work required to rectify the termite ingress issue. No free service periods are offered for termite ingress at unprotected areas of structure. The free service period does not include any repairs or replacement to damaged timbers or building structural elements/fixtures/furniture/personal items, or any financial loss because of termite attack.

Your responsibility: It is your responsibility to ensure termite inspections are conducted at intervals prescribed by Northern Rock Pest Control, as outlined in your most recent termite inspection report. Any conducive conditions and recommendations in these reports must be addressed for free service periods or warranties to remain valid. If we report any live termites within 50 metres of the protected structure or property boundary (whichever is closer) during a termite inspection, the termite activity must be treated to maintain the validity of the free service period or warranty. If you suspect termite activity before your next scheduled inspection, you
must immediately inform us. It is crucial not to disturb the treated areas. Do not disturb or make building alterations in the chemically treated zone without consulting us, as any disturbance or breach of the installed termite barrier will void any free service periods or warranties offered.

No, and any company telling you otherwise is overselling it. A thermal camera measures surface temperature. At Northern Rock Pest Control we use it to highlight areas that warrant closer investigation, most often cooler spots where timber is holding moisture, but the camera doesn’t identify what’s causing them. That’s the technician’s job, using the anomaly as a starting point and confirming with further investigation.
No. A thermal camera reads the temperature of the surface it’s pointed at, and no camera sees through a wall. What it picks up is how conditions behind the surface, such as moisture, change the temperature of the surface itself. Northern Rock’s technicians use that as a guide to where to look more closely.
No. At Northern Rock Pest Control, a thermal scan is a separate service carried out alongside a full visual termite inspection. We use it where it’s genuinely useful: high-risk properties, following up something found during an inspection, homes with previous termite activity, and before-and-after treatment comparisons. Our prices are on the pricing page.
Yes. A thermal scan can be added to a visual termite inspection or a pre-purchase termite inspection in Darwin and Palmerston. Get in touch with Northern Rock or call (08) 8931 2254, and we’ll talk through whether your property is one where it’s worth adding.
Turn the air-conditioning on before the technician arrives. Thermal imaging relies on temperature differences, and a cool house against Darwin’s outside heat gives a much bigger contrast than you’d get down south, so anything reading differently stands out more clearly. Northern Rock normally asks customers to do this before a scan.
Northern Rock scans the affected areas before a termite treatment and again at the follow-up inspection after 30 days. Treated areas should have dried out by then, and the comparison records how the thermal and moisture conditions have changed. It’s documentation of the change, not a guarantee in itself, but it’s a great deal more than most owners are ever given.
